The Yoga of
Sound: Awakening the Mystic Heart
Program
description: The Mystic Heart is the core of our spiritual being, source
of the divine pulse that lovingly creates and holds all things in
existence. All traditions point to the mystic heart; all spiritual
practices are intended to lead to it. Here, at the very core of our
being we discover that a Christian’s salvation, a Hindu’s moksha
(liberation) and a Buddhist’s nirvana (spiritual awakening) are not
mutually exclusive terms of enlightenment but varying cultural
expressions uttered from the same vantage point: the mystic heart.
Course Objectives: During
this weekend we will explore mystical practices that lead to the
awakening of the mystic heart. We will use chant, movement, breath work,
meditation and music, aware that all technique is dependent on the grace
of Spirit. This is a time of spiritual experience shared in community
with the intention to go deep, or in the words of Christopher Fry:
"Affairs are now soul size. The enterprise is exploration into
God." (from "The Sleep of Prisoners")
