Laura first came to Yoga East twenty years ago - in January, 1990. Laura had
been studying and practicing yoga since 1967 but did not have a teacher until she moved to Louisville and met Maja Trigg,
founder of Yoga East. When Maja retired in 1994 Laura continued her studies with other teachers in the Iyengar yoga
tradition. In 1995 Laura heard about Ashtanga Yoga and found Beryl Bender Birch's
book, Power Yoga. Laura met David Swenson in 1998 and Tim Miller in 1999, and spent
three months with Shri K. Pattabhi Jois in Mysore in 1999. Laura attended Mr. Jois's New York City workshops in 2000 and 2001 and
returned to Mysore in 2002. Laura returned to Mysore every
year to study with Mr. Jois from 2002 until Mr. Jois passed away in May, 2009. For
the past several years Sharath Rangaswamy and Saraswathi Rangaswamy have also been her teachers in Mysore. Laura was first authorized by
Mr. Jois to teach Primary Series in 2004, and she received Authorization Level 2 in July,
2009 from Sharath, which authorizes her to teach part of Intermediate Series.
Laura's practice and teaching has also been influenced by the many teachers and
students she has met, and she is grateful to everyone, most especially
Shri K. Pattabhi Jois from whom she received more than she can ever
repay, and to Francois Raoult, Ramanand Patel, Douglas Keller, John Friend, David
Swenson, Tim Miller, Pujiya Swami Dayananda Saraswati of Arsha Vidya Gurukulum and Swami Chidvilasananda. Laura has over 10,000

Laura DeMent
Om yoga |
Laura moved with her husband to the
Louisville area in 2007 from Evansville, Indiana to be closer to family. Laura was first
introduced to yoga by a coworker in 2002. At first, she enjoyed yoga as a form of exercise
that did not bother her knees. As she continued her practice, yoga became a way to live
her life in a balanced and healthy way. In 2005, Laura was asked to sub a yoga class and
realized she would enjoy teaching so she enrolled in OM yoga's Weekend Warrior teacher
training in Indianapolis and graduated in 2006. Laura's teaching is inspired by her
teachers, Chris Crews, Seane Corn, Frank Mauro, Ramanand Patel and Laura Spaulding. Her
classes focus on alignment, breath, flow and the use of props to make the asanas
(postures) accessible to all students. |

Kara
Price
Om yoga (NYC) teacher
Certified Pilates teacher (Physical Mind Institute) |
Kara Price is originally
from Evansville, IN and is excited to come back to the area with her husband to be closer
to family and to share her three passions: dancing, Pilates and yoga. A professional
dancer for more than 15 years, Kara has lived in both Chicago and NYC. Through her
love of dancing, Kara also discovered Pilates. Thanks to her dance background and the
flexibility it developed, Pilates came fairly easily to her. However, through
teaching Pilates Kara found that its benefits are applicable to any and all people -
whether healthy, injured, young, old, big or small - Pilates is an exercise
technique that anyone can master.
While living in Chicago, a fellow Pilates teacher urged Kara to try a level 2/3 Ashtanga
class! Needless to say she felt she was thrown into the ocean and then told to swim;
and swim she did! By the end of class she knew yoga was something she wanted to
explore more deeply. With 8 years of teaching Pilates under her belt, she researched
yoga teacher training programs and continued her yoga journey in OM yogas Joining
Heaven and Earth teacher training program in NYC. Whether Pilates or Yoga - Kara's
classes focus on alignment, breath and a sense of smile. Let Kara's lighthearted approach
take you somewhere you have never beenphysically, mentally, spiritually - into love
and light. |

Patel, Francois Raoult, Darren Rhodes and David Swenson.
