Anatomy

How to handle problems with shoulders such as rotator cuff tears, bursitis,

Language of Teaching
Effective dialogue and cueing. A good teacher
needs to not only be able to do the postures, but to also effectively convey
to students how to do it. This class will teach various methods of talking
students into the postures and how to use demonstrations and safe
adjustments.

Teaching with Ease: how to handle the challenges of teaching a
multi-level class. How to spot problems and quickly correct them, modify
postures using props, what to do if props are not available, and how to keep
more experienced students engaged.

Reading Your Students: This is where yoga therapy begins: how to
listen to and understand your students, how to observe students using
diagnostic asanas to determine their challenges and obstacles, how to
prescribe postures for specific conditions, how to keep students and
yourself on track and inspired.

through February 27, discussing The Greatness of Saturn: A Therapeutic
Myth, by Robert Svoboda. The book is recommended but not required.

included in Yoga East class fees or $15 drop-in. |

This program is underway for
2010 and not accepting new students until the next course beginning in 2011. Volunteer Teachers are
encouraged to take as many Art of Teaching classes as possible. These
classes are free for students who have been accepted into the Volunteer
Program. You may also take other teacher training classes, such as

instructors, health care professionals, massage therapists and new yoga
teachers. Get started in teaching safe, effective, authentic and enjoyable
